Target Information

The protein encoded by PRG2 is the predominant constituent of the crystalline core of eosinophil granules. High levels of its proform are found in placenta and pregnancy serum, forming complexes with proteins such as PAPPA, AGT, and C3dg.
This protein plays roles in antiparasitic defense mechanisms as a cytotoxin and helminthotoxin, and contributes to immune hypersensitivity reactions. It is implicated in epithelial cell damage, exfoliation, and bronchospasm in allergic diseases.
