Target Information
Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion concentration changes and plays a crucial role in muscle function and myofibril formation. In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner. Cardiac Troponin T expression is influenced by heart failure, and mutations have been linked to familial hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy. The gene undergoes alternative splicing, producing tissue-specific isoforms.
