Target Information
Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion changes and is crucial for muscle function and myofibril formation.
In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed developmentally. Expression levels are affected by heart failure. Mutations in the Cardiac Troponin T gene are linked to familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy. The gene undergoes alternative splicing, producing multiple tissue-specific isoforms.
