Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using an EDTA buffer for 10 minutes followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes. After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature. Suggested positive controls include tonsil or lung tissue.
Target Information
CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on intracellular lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages and to a lesser extent by dendritic cells and peripheral blood granulocytes. CD68 may play a role in phagocytic activities of tissue macrophages, including intracellular lysosomal metabolism and extracellular cell-cell or cell-pathogen interactions. It is expressed by interdigitating reticulum cells in tonsil and certain histiocytic lymphomas, histiocytosis, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and granulocytic sarcoma. Elevated expression has been observed on CD34+ cells in various human malignancies, including AML.
