Target Information
The CDC27 gene encodes a protein that shares strong similarity with the yeast Cdc27 and Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc2 proteins. It is a key component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), composed of eight conserved subunits in eukaryotic cells. APC facilitates cyclin B-ubiquitin conjugate formation, driving ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of B-type cyclins. CDC27 and other APC members contain TPR domains, important for protein-protein interactions. It interacts with mitotic checkpoint proteins such as Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, contributing to mitosis timing regulation. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms.
