Product Specific Information

Epitope sequence: EQKLISEEDL, located in amino acids 410–419 of the human c-Myc protein.

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is frequently activated in various tumor cells and plays critical roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression. Phosphorylation of c-Myc at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK regulates these processes.

c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development. Deregulated expression of c-Myc induces apoptosis in certain cell types. Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize Myc-tagged fusion proteins at either the N- or C-terminus. Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is associated with several human cancers, including lung, breast, colon, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
