Product Specific Information

The HIP8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD41 molecule (integrin alpha IIb, platelet GPIIb). CD41 associates with integrin beta3 (CD61) to form the CD41/CD61 complex, a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, vitronectin, and thrombospondin, mediating platelet aggregation. HIP8 blocks platelet aggregation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometry
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for human platelets at 5 µL (0.5 µg)/test, in a final volume of 100 µL. Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

eFluor® 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue®, excited at 405 nm and emitting at 445 nm (Violet laser compatible).
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb, ITGA2B) consists of two subunits (α: 120 kDa, β: 23 kDa) that interact with CD61 in the presence of calcium to form a functional adhesive receptor. It mediates platelet aggregation and binds to von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin upon vascular injury. CD41 is expressed on megakaryocytes and platelets, and is involved in early hematopoietic differentiation.
Dysfunction of CD41 is associated with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and platelet-type bleeding disorders.
