Product Specific Information

• PLP fixation is recommended for optimal tissue staining results.
• For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.
• Mouse anti-Rat CD4 antibody, clone W3/25 recognizes the rat CD4 cell surface glycoprotein (~55 kDa), expressed by helper T cells and weakly by monocytes.

Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression may be detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of brain, gut, and other non-lymphoid tissues.
CD4 functions to initiate or augment early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck. It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
