Product Specific Information

• For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.
• No protein digestion pre-treatment required for paraffin-embedded sections.
• No antigen retrieval using heat treatment required prior to staining.
• Mouse anti-Rat CD8α, clone MRC OX-8, recognizes the rat CD8 alpha cell surface antigen expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and the majority of NK cells.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family, playing an integral role in signal transduction and T cell differentiation and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC-I molecules.
It is also expressed on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Binding of MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers recruitment of Lck kinase, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs play a key role in pathogen and tumor cell clearance.
Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
