Product Specific Information
This antibody specifically immunoprecipitates the ~92 kDa beta-catenin protein from native cell lysates. It is suitable for immunoprecipitation (IP) and IP/western applications.
When used for western blotting, cross-reactivity with a ~100 kDa protein of unknown identity may occur.
Suggested positive control lysates: HeLa and A431.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and signaling. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin to anchor the E-cadherin complex to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli protein and participates in multiple signaling pathways, including Wnt/Wingless.
It plays critical roles in morphogenesis and is implicated in various cancers such as colorectal, ovarian, and breast cancer.
In the nucleus, beta-catenin co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting transcription of genes like cyclin D and c-myc, which drive cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
