Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of PAK1/2/3 only when phosphorylated at Ser144, Ser141, and Ser139.
Target Information
In mammals, several isoforms of p21-Activated Protein Kinases (PAKs) have been identified:
- α-PAK (PAK1) and β-PAK (PAK3) are primarily brain-specific.
- γ-PAK (PAK2) is expressed ubiquitously (Jakobi et al., 2003).
Mutations in the PAK3 gene are linked to X-linked mental retardation, and PAK3 is a key regulator of synapse formation and plasticity in the hippocampus (Boda et al., 2004). PAK3 also plays a significant role in regulating cell shape, motility, and cell death (Jakobi et al., 2003; Walter et al., 1998). Autophosphorylation of Thr402 is essential for PAK activation (Jakobi et al., 2000).
