Target Information
CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells.
It carries blood group M and N specificities and provides cells with a mucin-like barrier that may minimize red blood cell aggregation.
CD235a has been shown to act as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Hsa, a Streptococcus adhesin.
