SUPT4H1은 DRB sensitivity-inducing factor complex (DSIF complex)의 구성 요소로, RNA polymerase II에 의한 mRNA 처리 및 전사 신장을 조절합니다.
DSIF는 RNGTT/CAP1A의 mRNA guanylyltransferase 활성을 자극하여 mRNA 캡핑을 촉진하며, NELF complex와 협력하여 프로모터 근처에서 전사 일시정지를 강화합니다.
또한 DSIF는 HIV-1 Tat 단백질에 의한 전사 신장 활성화를 위해 필요하며, HIV-1 LTR로부터 파생된 전사체의 조기 방출을 억제합니다.
