Target Information

Cas9 is an RNA-guided DNA endonuclease enzyme associated with the CRISPR adaptive immunity system in bacteria and genetic engineering.
The system uses RNA to guide the nuclease to a desired DNA sequence, enabling:

• Indel mutations
• Specific sequence replacements or insertions
• Large deletions or genomic rearrangements
  Cas9 can also mediate upregulation of endogenous genes or modify histone or DNA methylation patterns.

Cas9 variants include:

• SpCas9 (Streptococcus pyogenes)
• SaCas9 (Staphylococcus aureus)
