This affinity purified antibody is directed against the V5 epitope tag and is useful for detecting its presence in overexpressed proteins across various assays.
Recognizes the V5 epitope tag sequence (Gly-Lys-Pro-Ile-Pro-Asn-Pro-Leu-Leu-Gly-Leu-Asp-Ser-Thr) fused to either amino- or carboxy-termini of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
Epitope tags enable localization and study of gene products, protein topology, and identification of associated or poorly immunogenic proteins when specific antibodies are unavailable.
The V5 epitope tag originates from the paramyxovirus SV5 P and V proteins, typically using the full 14-amino-acid sequence (GKPIPNPLLGLDST) or a shorter 9-amino-acid form (IPNPLLGLD).
