Target Information
ANKRD27 (VARP) may act as a guanine exchange factor (GEF) for Rab21, Rab32, and Rab38 and regulate endosome dynamics (PubMed:16525121, PubMed:18477474). It may regulate the participation of VAMP7 in membrane fusion events by inhibiting VAMP7-mediated SNARE complex formation through trapping VAMP7 in an inactive conformation (PubMed:23104059).
Involved in melanosomal distribution of TYRP1 in melanocytes, neurite growth regulation, Golgi sorting of VAMP7, and endosome-to-plasma membrane trafficking of GLUT1. Function depends on interactions with Rab21, VPS29, and other vesicle-trafficking proteins (PubMed references: 19745841, 22705394, 24856514).
