Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed samples): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is an enzyme that catalyzes the rapid interconversion of carbon dioxide and water into carbonic acid, protons, and bicarbonate ions. It is abundant in all mammalian tissues.
CA IX is one of the most inducible genes under hypoxic conditions via HIF-1α and is a reliable histochemical marker of hypoxia. Carbonic anhydrases regulate pH by controlling hydrogen ion (H⁺) flux, and inhibition of CA IX can lead to increased cell death under hypoxia.
