NIP1 (BNIP1)은 BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa-interacting protein (BNIP) 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 바이러스 유도 세포사멸을 억제하는 E1B 19 kDa 단백질 및 BCL2의 유사 서열과 상호작용한다. 이 유전자는 네 가지 스플라이싱 변이를 가지며, BNIP1 전사 변이는 전체 코딩 영역을 포함한다. 해당 변이는 세포사멸 촉진 기능과 관련된 BH3 도메인을 완전히 보존하고 있다.
