Target Information
TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that is a major controller of thyroid cell metabolism. The encoded protein acts as a receptor for thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated by adenylate cyclase. Defects in this gene are associated with several forms of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
