Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1, JNK2, and p38.
It preferentially phosphorylates the tyrosine residue of JNKs and mediates physiological and pathophysiological processes such as cellular stress and inflammatory cytokine responses.
MAP2K4 plays a role in carcinogenesis; loss-of-function mutations have been found in lung and pancreatic tumors, while pro-oncogenic roles have also been reported.
