Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Superior specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to the large rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody shows specificity for H5N1 (A/Anhui/1/2005) HA.
Target Information
Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, responsible for over 30,000 deaths annually in the USA. In 2009, a novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus emerged, leading to a global pandemic.
Influenza A virus possesses one of sixteen possible Hemagglutinin (HA) and one of nine possible Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins. HA facilitates viral attachment, while NA is involved in viral release. Both proteins elicit immune responses that prevent infection or reduce viral replication.
The 2009 H1N1 strain combined genetic material from human, swine, and avian influenza viruses, resulting in distinct antigenic properties compared to seasonal H1N1 strains. Consequently, human immunity to the new swine influenza virus was limited, though older populations showed partial protection.
