Target Information

The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at either the N- or C-terminal region of recombinant proteins to enable isolation or purification via immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).

Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins by fusing a known epitope to the target protein.
His-tagged proteins can be purified using metal chelate chromatography, leveraging the strong and selective affinity of histidine clusters for Ni²⁺ ions, enabling purification to homogeneity on Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
