Product Specific Information
- For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to reach ~1 mg/mL concentration.
- For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Paraoxonase-1 (PON1) is a calcium-dependent ester hydrolase associated with apoA-I in HDL, preventing LDL oxidation and atherogenic oxidised-LDL formation.
Polymorphisms in the human PON1 gene are linked to coronary artery disease. PON2 provides intracellular protection against oxidative damage, while PON3 shares functional similarity with PON1 but differs in substrate specificity.
Both PON1 and PON3 are involved in reducing atherosclerosis risk. Human PON3 protein contains three conserved cysteine residues found in PON1, essential for in vivo activity. PON1-based catalytic scavengers may offer protection against organophosphate intoxication.
