Rat anti-Mouse CD8 antibody, clone YTS169.4 recognizes the murine CD8 cell surface antigen, expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes.
This antibody exhibits depleting activity when used in vivo.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family that plays an integral role in signal transduction, T cell differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with the T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC class I molecules.
CD8α is essential for MHC-I binding and is also expressed on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as homodimers.
Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes by CD8 triggers recruitment of Lck kinase, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs are crucial for pathogen and tumor clearance. Differentiation of naïve CD8⁺ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
