Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for the ~180 kDa NR2A subunit of the NMDA receptor.
There is no reactivity towards the NR2B and NR2C subunits.
Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption of antibody with the fusion protein used to generate the antibody.
Target Information
N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors are ionotropic glutamate-gated ion channels involved in long-term potentiation, an activity-dependent increase in synaptic transmission efficiency related to memory and learning.
NMDA receptor channels are heteromers composed of the key receptor subunit NMDAR1 (GRIN1) and one or more of the four NMDAR2 subunits: NMDAR2A (GRIN2A), NMDAR2B (GRIN2B), NMDAR2C (GRIN2C), and NMDAR2D (GRIN2D).
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
