Retinoid-related orphan receptor beta (RORβ)는 NR1 계열의 thyroid hormone receptor로, 중추신경계의 발달 및 기능(감각 입력 통합, 생체 리듬 조절 등)에 관여합니다.
RORβ 유전자 결손 마우스는 운동실조, 망막 변성, 생체 리듬 이상, 수컷 생식 지연 등의 표현형을 보입니다.
RORβ는 AnnTAGGTCA 서열을 포함하는 반응 요소에 단량체로 결합하며, RORβ2라는 대체 스플라이싱된 이소폼은 송과선과 망막에 특이적으로 발현됩니다.
RORβ2는 공통적인 DNA 결합 및 리간드 결합 도메인을 가지지만 N-말단 도메인이 상이합니다.
RORβ 발현은 생쥐 뇌의 다양한 영역에서 확인되었습니다.
