Target Information

RING1 belongs to the RING finger family, encoding proteins with a zinc-binding RING domain. The gene product functions as a transcriptional repressor and is part of the polycomb group protein complex. It interacts with BMI1, EDR1, and CBX4, colocalizing in nuclear domains. The CBX4 interaction occurs via a glycine-rich C-terminal domain. The gene maps to the HLA class II region, adjacent to FABGL and HKE4.
