Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, keep aliquots at -20 °C for higher stability, and at 4 °C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability.
Target Information
SOD1 (superoxide dismutase) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. This isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein acting as a homodimer to convert harmful superoxide radicals into molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is mitochondrial. Mutations in this gene have been implicated in familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Rare transcript variants have been reported.
