Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
After reconstitution, store aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, or at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent.
Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

Glutathione peroxidases (Gpxs) are ubiquitously expressed enzymes that catalyze the reduction of hydrogen and organic hydroperoxides using glutathione.
There are several isoforms differing in structure and localization:

• GPx1 (cGPx): Cytosolic/mitochondrial, selenium-dependent.
• GPx2 (GI-GPx): Expressed in gastrointestinal epithelium.
• GPx3 (pGPx): Extracellular plasma form, mainly expressed in kidney and released into blood.
• GPx4 (PH-GPx): Reduces hydroperoxides in membranes and lipids.
• GPx5 (eGPx): Epididymis-specific secretory form.

All mammalian GPx family members, except Cys-containing GPx3 and GPx5, possess selenocysteine at the active site.
