Target Information
ESE-1 (Epithelium-Specific Ets) is a highly tissue-restricted member of the ets transcription factor/oncogene family, distinct from other ets-related factors. It binds with high affinity to and transactivates the ets binding site in the SPRR2A promoter, a keratinocyte terminal differentiation marker gene. ESE-1 plays a critical role in epithelial cell differentiation.
