Product Specific Information
This antibody was cross-adsorbed to unphosphorylated Profilin (Ser-138) and affinity purified using Profilin (Ser-138) peptide (without carrier).
Detects a 15 kDa band corresponding to Profilin-1 in human Jurkat and A431 cells, and rat PC12 cells.
Reactivity is decreased by lambda phosphatase treatment and blocked by phospho-profilin (Ser-138) blocking peptide.
Target Information
Profilin is a ubiquitous small (12–15 kDa) phosphoinositides and poly-L-proline binding protein involved in signal transduction and actin filament dynamics.
Two mammalian profilins exist with similar biochemical properties but distinct expression patterns:
- Profilin I: Highly expressed in most tissues except skeletal muscle.
- Profilin II: Predominantly expressed in brain, lower levels in skeletal muscle, uterus, and kidney.
Profilin is mainly cytosolic and concentrated at dynamic membrane areas such as leading edges and ruffling membranes.
