Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The mitochondrial enzyme encoded by the CPS1 gene catalyzes the synthesis of carbamoyl phosphate from ammonia and bicarbonate. This reaction is the first committed step of the urea cycle, essential for the removal of excess urea from cells. The encoded protein may also function as a core mitochondrial nucleoid protein. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified; the shortest isoform may not localize to the mitochondrion. Mutations in this gene are associated with carbamoyl phosphate synthetase deficiency, susceptibility to persistent pulmonary hypertension, and venoocclusive disease following bone marrow transplantation.
