Target Information

MOV10 is a 5′ to 3′ RNA helicase contributing to UPF1 mRNA target degradation by translocation along 3′ UTRs. It is required for microRNA (miRNA)-mediated gene silencing by the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), including both translational repression and cleavage of complementary mRNAs.
In cooperation with FMR1, MOV10 regulates miRNA-mediated translational repression by AGO2 and restricts retrotransposition of LINE-1 elements with TUT4 and TUT7. It facilitates LINE-1 uridylation and is essential for embryonic viability and normal CNS development.
MOV10 suppresses retroelements in the nucleus and regulates cytoskeletal mRNAs in the cytosol, influencing neurite outgrowth. It may function as an mRNP clearance factor and exhibits antiviral activity against dengue virus (DENV).
