Target Information

MOV10 is a 5′ to 3′ RNA helicase contributing to UPF1 mRNA target degradation by translocation along 3′ UTRs. It is required for miRNA-mediated gene silencing by the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), including both translational repression and cleavage of complementary mRNAs.
In cooperation with FMR1, MOV10 regulates miRNA-mediated translational repression by AGO2 and restricts retrotransposition of LINE-1 elements by facilitating uridylation through TUT4 and TUT7.
MOV10 is essential for embryonic viability and normal CNS development, suppressing retroelements in the nucleus and regulating cytoskeletal mRNAs for neurite outgrowth. It may act as a messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) clearance factor and exhibits antiviral activity against dengue virus (DENV).
