Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human beta-NGF. Anti-Human beta-NGF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human beta-NGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human beta-NGF (500-P85) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human beta-NGF.
Western Blot:
To detect Human beta-NGF by Western blot analysis, this antibody can be used at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human beta-NGF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Packaging:
500-P85BT-1MG will be provided as 2 × 500 µg.
Target Information
Nerve growth factor (NGF) influences the survival and differentiation of various neuronal and non-neuronal cells. NGF binds to specific cell surface receptors with high and low affinity; only the high-affinity form mediates signal transduction. Cross-linking studies with 125I-NGF show that the high-affinity receptor of rat PC12 cells forms a 158 kDa complex with NGF, while the low-affinity receptor forms a 100 kDa complex.
Full-length cDNA clones for both human and rat NGF receptor genes show >90% homology. NGF stimulates growth and differentiation of sympathetic and sensory neurons and is associated with hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 5 (HSAN5) and allergic rhinitis.
