Target Information
The EGR2 gene encodes the early growth response 2 protein, a transcription factor that regulates genes involved in myelin formation and maintenance. Myelin ensures efficient nerve impulse transmission. Mutations in EGR2 can lead to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease types 1D or 4E, or a severe form known as Dejerine-Sottas syndrome.
