C17orf37 (also known as C35) is a novel tumor biomarker highly expressed in breast cancer.
The ERBB2 (neu/HER2) oncogene has been established as a key predictor of patient outcomes and therapy responses in breast cancer.
C35 is located on chromosome 17q12, 505 nucleotides from the 3′ end of the ERBB2 oncogene, and the two genes are arranged tail-to-tail.
The ORF 37 open reading frame encodes a 12-kDa protein of unknown function, potentially associated with tumorigenesis and HER2-related pathways.
