Target Information
Beta-catenin은 세포-세포 접합 구조의 구성 요소로 처음 확인된 부착 연결(adherens junction, AJ) 단백질입니다. AJs는 세포 성장과 접착을 조절하여 상피세포층 형성과 유지에 필수적입니다. Beta-catenin은 E-cadherin의 세포질 도메인과 상호작용하며, E-cadherin 복합체를 actin 세포골격에 연결하는 역할을 합니다. 또한 adenomatous polyposis coli 단백질 및 미세소관을 포함한 세포골격 복합체와 결합하고, 여러 신호전달 경로(Wnt/Wingless 등)에 관여합니다.
Beta-catenin은 모낭 세포, 기저 및 주변 매트릭스 세포, 외·내근초 세포에서 발현되며, 다양한 종양(피로매트릭소마, 메둘로블라스토마, 대장암, 난소암 등)과 관련이 있습니다. 핵 내에서 Lef/Tcf 전사인자와 함께 작용하여 cyclin D, c-myc 등 세포 증식을 유도하는 유전자의 발현을 촉진합니다.
