Product Specific Information

MA5-15880 targets AIF in FACS, IF, IHC, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, Non-human primate, and Rat samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human AIF expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15880 detects AIF with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 67 kDa.

Target Information

Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF) causes chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation. AIF localizes in mitochondria and translocates to the nucleus during apoptosis, triggering release of apoptogenic proteins such as cytochrome c and caspase-9.
AIF induces chromatin condensation and large-scale DNA fragmentation, hallmarks of apoptosis. It is highly conserved between human and mouse and widely expressed.
Mutations in the AIF gene cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 6, leading to severe mitochondrial encephalomyopathy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and a related pseudogene exists on chromosome 10.
