Product Specific Information

The eBioMWReg30 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD41 (fibrinogen receptor, gpIIb, integrin alpha IIb). CD41, initially thought to be expressed only on platelets and megakaryocytes, is also found on hematopoietic progenitors in embryos, fetuses, and adults. It associates with CD61 (gpIIIa, integrin beta III) to form a receptor critical for platelet function, mediating binding to fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin.

Recent studies using SLAM-family markers (CD48, CD150) have shown that CD150+CD48− bone marrow cells efficiently reconstitute hematopoiesis in irradiated mice. The exclusion of CD41+ cells further enhances this efficiency, making CD150+CD48−CD41− a reliable marker profile for hematopoietic stem cells.

Applications Tested: Tested on mouse platelets; recommended ≤0.125 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended per assay.

Target Information

CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb, ITGA2B) comprises two subunits (120 kDa α and 23 kDa β) that interact with CD61 in the presence of calcium to form a functional adhesive receptor. CD41 mediates platelet aggregation and binds to von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin upon vascular injury. It is expressed mainly in the megakaryocyte-platelet lineage and during early hematopoietic differentiation.
