Target Information
The IL1R2 gene encodes a cytokine receptor belonging to the interleukin-1 receptor family. It binds IL1A, IL1B, and IL1R1/IL1RA, acting as a decoy receptor that inhibits ligand activity. IL4 antagonizes IL1 activity by inducing IL1R2 expression and release.
This gene forms part of a cytokine receptor cluster on chromosome 2q12. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding the same protein are reported.
