Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP or DDIT3) is a small nuclear protein that can dimerize with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. Once dimerized, the complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining binding activity to non-classical, stress-related C/EBP targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 expression is low, but it is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient deprivation, or reducing agents that disrupt calcium flux across the ER membrane.
