Description:
The WM59 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD31 (PECAM-1, gpIIa), a 130–140 kDa surface protein expressed by endothelial cells and at low levels on leukocytes and platelets. CD38 has been reported to bind to CD31. Homotypic interaction of CD31 is important in adhesion, cell-cell and cell-matrix interaction, and signal transduction.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume.
Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor involved in regulation of T and B cell signaling through ITIM motifs that recruit protein-tyrosine phosphatases upon phosphorylation. It is expressed throughout the vascular compartment, primarily at intercellular junctions. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions. CD31 participates in integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immune regulation, and thrombosis, serving as a key regulatory molecule in the vascular system.
