Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, this protein belongs to the Rel family and is one of the two subunits of NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells). It heterodimerizes with p50 or p52 subunits. Upon TNF alpha binding to its receptor, IKK is phosphorylated, which in turn phosphorylates I kB, leading to its proteasomal degradation. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
