Target Information
Kallikreins are serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
KLK8 is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in tandem on chromosome 19. It may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
