KLK8 is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a gene cluster on chromosome 19.
The encoded protein may participate in proteolytic cascades in the skin and act as a biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing of this gene produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
