Target Information

CDC25A is a member of the CDC25 family of phosphatases. Three CDC25 genes (CDC25A, CDC25B, and CDC25C) are present in human cells and function at different phases of the cell cycle.
CDC25A is required for progression through G1 and S phases and activates the cyclin-dependent kinase CDC2 by removing two phosphate groups.
It is specifically degraded in response to DNA damage, preventing abnormal cells from progressing through division.
CDC25A is an oncogene, though its precise role in oncogenesis remains under investigation.
