Target Information
Ankyrin (ANK) repeats mediate protein–protein interactions across diverse protein families. The number of ANK repeats can range from 2 to over 20 and may occur with other domain types. Each repeat unit consists of two anti-parallel helices and a beta-hairpin, forming a superhelical structure.
LIAR (also known as ANKRD54) is an ANK repeat-containing protein mainly expressed in tissues rich in ciliated cells, such as olfactory sensory neurons, and is predicted to play a role in cilia function. At least three isoforms of LIAR are known to exist.
