Product Specific Information

PA1-969 detects proteasome 19S subunit S7 from human cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunoprecipitation procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a 47 kDa protein representing proteasome 19S subunit S7 from HeLa cell lysate.
The antigen is recombinant human proteasome 19S subunit S7.

Target Information

Proteolytic degradation is critical for maintaining appropriate levels of short-lived and regulatory proteins, including those involved in metabolism, stress response, antigen presentation, receptor modulation, cell cycle regulation, transcription, and signaling.
The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway deconstructs most proteins in the eukaryotic cytosol and nucleus, while others are degraded via the vacuolar pathway involving endosomes, lysosomes, and the endoplasmic reticulum.
The 26S proteasome is an ATP-dependent, multisubunit (~31) complex with an approximate molecular weight of ~2.5 MDa. It consists of a 20S proteolytic core complex crowned by one or two 19S regulatory subunit complexes. The 19S subunits recognize ubiquitinated proteins and facilitate their unfolding and translocation into the 20S core.
Defects in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway are linked to various genetic diseases, including cystic fibrosis, Angelman’s syndrome, and Liddle syndrome.
