Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid. Dilute only before immediate use.

This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the phosphorylated form of human SMAD1 protein at the pS206 residue. It specifically recognizes phosphorylated SMAD1 and shows minimal reactivity with the non-phosphorylated form by ELISA and western blot.
BLAST analysis indicates 100% cross-reactivity with SMAD1 from human, duckbill platypus, Drosophila, mouse, opossum, chimpanzee, bonobo, orangutan, gorilla, macaque, cattle, sheep, pig, rat, horse, salmon, chicken, and dog.

Target Information

The SMAD1 protein belongs to the SMAD family, homologous to the Drosophila gene mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) and the C. elegans gene Sma. SMAD proteins act as signal transducers and transcriptional modulators mediating multiple signaling pathways.
SMAD1 mediates bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling involved in cell growth, apoptosis, morphogenesis, development, and immune responses. Upon BMP ligand binding, SMAD1 is phosphorylated and activated by BMP receptor kinase, forming a complex with SMAD4 to regulate transcription.
SMAD1 is targeted by E3 ubiquitin ligases such as SMURF1 and SMURF2 for ubiquitination and proteasome-mediated degradation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been observed.
